Methods of Submission

The visa regulations established by the Republic of Korea allow three different methods of visa applications. Note that only specific visa types or applicants with specific characteristics are eligible to apply using a specific method.

Note that, regardless of the initial method of application, every applicant must visit in person the IOM KVAC or use the mail-in service to submit the visa application supporting documents and the passport.

Application in Person at KVAC

1. Preparation of needed documents

2. Payment of visa fees, service fees, and additional service fees (if any)

3. Appointment scheduling at the KVAC

4. Visit at the KVAC

5. Decision making at the ROK Embassy in Berlin

6. Updated status on the Korea Visa Portal

7. Passport return at the KVAC

Mail-In Application

1. Preparation of needed documents

2. Payment of visa fees, service fees, and courier fees

3. Shipment to the KVAC

4. Decision making at the ROK Embassy in Berlin

5. Updated status on the Korea Visa Portal

6. Passport return visa registered mail by the KVAC

Processing Time

The processing time may vary depending on:

•Visa type;

• Complexity of the documentation;

• Completeness and accurateness of the documents;

• Need for interview;

• Peak season.

Currently the ROK Embassy in Berlin needs two weeks to process a visa application. Please do carefully consider this time when you plan for your visa.

In case of emergency, the Embassy can consider accelerating the decision process if there is a reasonable and attestable reason.

If you find yourself in a situation of need, please write an email to kvaceuinfo@iom.int providing full name, passport number, telephone number, a detailed explanation, attaching any document proving the emergency, noting that the ROK Embassy in Berlin does not allow any expedite process so every request will be carefully evaluated and there is no guarantee of success.

Visa Decision Process

Please note that starting from February 24, 2020, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Berlin stopped issuing visa stickers. The whole process is currently managed online.

Once the decision making has been completed, the status of your visa application will be updated in the Korea Visa Portal. Please verify the result here.
